Minis in the Rose Garden

Every single time I photograph in the rose garden, I leave thinking the same thing: that never gets old.

There’s something about that setting that just works. The light filters through soft and warm. The color is everywhere — blush and cream and deep red — and it somehow makes everyone look like the most beautiful version of themselves. Families relax. Mamas exhale. Kids run between the rows like they own the place. And I just get to follow them around with my camera and capture all of it.

Mini sessions in the rose garden are one of my favorite offerings for a reason. Fifteen minutes sounds short, but when the backdrop is doing that much heavy lifting, it’s honestly plenty. We’re not rushing — we’re just in it. Playing, laughing, sneaking in snuggles, chasing toddlers, letting it unfold. Some of my most favorite images I’ve ever made have come out of these sessions.

What I love most is how different every single session feels. A mama with her little ones moves through that garden completely differently than a family of four, or a mama-to-be at the end of her third trimester. The roses don’t care — they just bloom and let everyone have their moment. And every single person gets one.

If you’ve been putting off booking photos because it feels like too much — too much planning, too much coordinating, too much pressure to have a “big” session — mini sessions are for you. Pick your outfits. Show up. I’ll take care of the rest.

The rose garden doesn’t stay in bloom forever. And neither does this season of life — whatever season you’re in right now. The two-year-old who won’t sit still, the baby bump, the big kid who still reaches for your hand without thinking about it. These are the moments worth stopping for.

I’d love to see you out there. 🌹
